American Environmental Solutions, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Rob and Karen Plachy. As a family owned and operated business, we have combined our years of experience, education, training, and talent to provide a "total" solution for our customers that is unmatched by our competitors. 

Rob has over 20 years of experience as a field-superintendent and project estimator in Asbestos, Lead, and Mold remediation. “Total solutions” include set-up, removal of furniture and equipment, interior demolition, subcontract to renovate, and odds-and-ends at the customer’s request. Some of Rob's past projects include:

  • University of Chicago - Multiple projects including complete demo of several buildings.
  • FAA Air Traffic Control Center, Aurora - Control room attic abatement.
  • Dirksen Federal Building - Trial beam scrapes in state's attorneys' offices.
  • Richard Daley Center - Entire 4th floor interior demo.
  • Chicago Public Schools - Countless projects including new CPS headquarters on 5th and 6th floors of 125 S. Clark Street.
  • Great Lakes Naval Training Center - Building No. 1 steam piping, off base housing renovation, and Building No. 11 boiler house.
  • Museum of Science and Industry - Multiple projects over a 10-year period.
  • Art Institute of Chicago - Multiple projects including new galleries above art storage vaults.
  • Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center - Complete floor renovations over a 10-year period.
  • Mercy Hospital -Chiller room and boiler room thermal system insulation removal.
  • Cook County Hospital - Demo of 5 buildings to facilitate construction of new hospital.
  • John Hancock Center - Parking garage mold abatement.
  • Pontiac Correctional Center
Karen’s background includes finance, accounting, and business administration in investment, manufacturing, construction, and technology industries. She has worked at the executive level in providing financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, strategic planning and analyses for private and public companies.  Karen has an undergraduate degree in accounting, a masters degree in business administration, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
